Compare and Contrast
Today we read, The Three Bears by Paul Galdone and The Three Snow Bears by Jan Brett. I created a compare and contrast t-chart ( I will post hopefully tomorrow.) We discussed each story before, during, and after reading. Students used different pitches to indicate whether they were speaking for Papa Bear, Mama Bear, and Baby Bear as we retold each story. We completed the chart for The Three Bears together. Students completed the chart for The Three Snow Bears on their own. For some it was a challenge, but for others it was a good start for comparing and contrasting stories and/or things. It is on the next post because I am learning to upload files since I am new to this.

I am so tired of snow...
We have been out of school for an entire week due to snow and ice here in Georgia. It completely shut school systems down. Therefore, I am sick and tired of all the SNOW. (Sorry, I would pull my hair out if I lived where there were snow all the time. However, I think other places are "more prepared".) However, I want to do a fun unit on Arctic and Antarctic Animals. I hope to focus mainly on polar bears and penguins and the life of the Inuits in the North Pole region. I have not ever used Jan Brett's book, The Three Snow Bears. I found some cute activities that I have adapted to first grade. I am super excited! I will keep you posted!
